As I write this blog, Daylight Savings comes to and end. The clocks are to be set up, and today it’s an hour earlier than it was at this time yesterday. But if you think it’s difficult changing your clocks by an hour, try changing from counting down the years to zero to counting up.

Struggle for Relevance 2/28/20
To me, it’s reading like “sour grapes”, just an old man complaining about his lost youth. I guess I can’t say this isn’t the case, but I seem to have reached an age where I have difficulty reconciling what I have accomplished in the past and what I want to and can still accomplish today, with the difficulty of finding the opportunity to do so.

As a theoretical chemist, all I needed was paper and a pen, so every new research topic started with a new spiral bound notebook. I would fill them with references and notes from related papers, diagrams, derivations, thoughts, programming ideas, and as one would be filled a sequel would be started.

In any industry, there are a plethora of jobs that must be filled, and skills that are needed. You would think that the winning combination would be to put the older and more experienced people in positions to teach, mentor, and guide the younger employees while they are still learning. Because THAT is how you win a Superbowl!
