Mixed Messages 4/9/22

Management experts say that there are three reasons that an employee doesn’t do as they are told. First, they don’t understand what they were told to do. This means that the order was not clear to the employee. Second, they didn’t know how to do what they were told to do. This means they were not given appropriate instruction and/or training, or at least didn’t understand what was given. The third is that they’re just jerks. In other words, it’s pure belligerence.

corporations started in with shady practices such as removing previously promised retirement benefits, scaling back on health care benefits, failing to keep pace with inflation in salaries, cutting employees rather than re-investing in the company and more. Until today, when we, quite literally, have to pay for the privilege to go to work.
